Fulcrum: Think Bigger, Make It Happen
Entry Point: I was brought by the founder in 2020, pre-seed, and nearly pre-product, but with a clear vision for the massive opportunity to change manufacturing worldwide. I was the first VP-level hire and got my hands dirty right away.
Team: When I joined we were 13 people, some in Downtown Minneapolis, some across the country, some across the Atlantic. We grew to a 5 person marketing machine, a 8 person SDR team to fuel pipeline and revenue aligned with six account executives.
Focus Areas: Fulcrum’s market is small and medium-sized manufacturers (100,000s+ across the country) that produce the parts that enrich our lives everyday. This vast network is made of highly skilled, precise, and industrious people. We were trying to change the status quo of paper, whiteboards, and legacy ugly, frustrating software. We adopted a Crossing the Chasm mentality and doubled down on the pre-chasm early adopters: truly new tech, no social proof, bold vision, and unmistakeably different branding. The product matched this thinking and we took off.
Along the way we built an inbound engine using paid search, an event strategy to show up where our early adopters were in-person, and an outbound machine that used research, auto-dialing, and integrity to hit the mark.
Business Impact: We were able to roughly triple, triple, double in my time there, and the team continues to thrive. I was fortunate to help tell the story through Seed, A, and A2 fundraising rounds, massive national events, as well as local tech-centric showcases like the Minnesota Cup.
If you want to get deeper into results with this privately-held business, I’m happy to put you in touch with the leadership team.
